  • Quark Express (Including fonts and images)
  • Illustrator (Files best saved as EPS with pictures embedded)
  • Photoshop
  • Indesign (Including fonts and images)
  • Freehand (Save/Export as an EPS file)
  • Corel (Export to illustrator EPS)

Here at Redwood we hate to see a print job that's not perfect and how it is intended. In order for your print job to hit the spot it is vital your files are prepared and sent to us correctly, to help you do this we've prepared a step by step guide to preparing your PDF artwork for print.

Keep the Resolution High

  • Compression settings for both colour and grey scale down sampled to 300 dpi
  • Auto compression set to "high"
  • Bitmap images at 600dpi
  • Embed all fonts

Bleed

  • 3mm bleed around the entire document.
  • Tip: save the PDF with 6mm extra on each measurement (i.e. for Business Cards usually 85mm x 55mm, save as 91mm x 61mm).

If it´s to be printed it needs to be CMYK NOT RGB

Working on screen you may work in RGB colour format but if it´s to be printed you MUST convert to CMYK format, including all colours to "process". Unless the job has special colours. If so these need to be set up as Spot colours.

Embedded images

Ensure ALL images are in CMYK format, although RGB image may look great on screen the final output can look drastically different to the on screen artwork.

Images should be submitted as TIFFs, JPEGs or EPS files.

EPS Files

If unable to submit PDF artwork or your artwork requires work from our in-house design team submitting EPS file format is ideal. Still ensure you include 3mm bleed and relevant crop marks.

File Checking and Artwork Amends

At Redwood we check all artwork before we put to press and inform you of any potential errors or issues we flag, however we do not take responsibility once you have approved the job, so check, check and check again.

If you require our in-house design team to amend your artwork this will be billed at our standard hourly rate. Details of this are available upon request.
